The Storybook architecture movement, which is primarily found in the United States and Canada, emerged after World War I. It was a whimsical response to the ornate and formal styles of architecture that had dominated the previous century.
This iron Storybook sconce has been restored with new black twisted cloth wiring, sockets, etc.
Measurements: The sconce measures 17 1/4 inches tall, 6 inches at its widest point, and protrudes 6 inches from the wall.
Condition: The fixture features new wiring, a new socket, a vintage glass shade, satin black paint, and mounting hardware. We have chosen to drift from an OME design and use a phenolic socket with a mounting ring to achieve a tighter, more uniform fit for the glass shade and canopy. We have included almost every combination of fasteners available to make the fixture as easy as possible to install, depending on the individual circumstances, which include an 8/32 mounting screw, wood screws if needed, and a dummy screw and nut. Depending on the installation location, you may find you will have to alter or cut down the mounting bracket to fit in the indentation in the back of the sconce for a more flush fit against the wall. The fixture is in good condition with only minor inconstancies in the black painted finish.
Electrical: The fixture uses a standard medium base bulb. Use a 60-watt bulb. Bulbs are not included. Suitable for dry locations.
